We are moving! In 2025 we are moving Fairtrade Fortnight to the whole month of Fairbruary.

On Tuesday 4th Fairbruary at 12.30pm we are having an online get together to highlight how the campaign works and how you can get involved. Dee Laffan, the well-known Irish food writer, is hosting the event and we will be joined by producer representatives and companies for the session. Sign up to the event

The new campaign, Fairbruary, will run from 1st February to 28th February and will allow us to push for more Fairtrade with businesses and communities. This year the campaign will run in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland. We hope that Fairbruary will lead to an increase in sales for Fairtrade products as it has done in those countries that ran the Fairbruary campaign in previous years. This is the reason we are making the change!

Businesses and communities will continue to choose how and when they want to engage, just as they currently do.

With our move to a mostly online Fairbruary campaign in 2025, we are making some changes. We will not be sending out any printed materials to supporters but the Fairbruary campaign will have its own website, www.Fairbruary.ie with many activities for people to get involved in. We will also produce some online resources that our supporters can use to promote Fairbruary. We will continue to profile our Fairtrade partners, farmers and businesses, in online talks during Fairbruary and a list of events will be made available in the New Year.

We are very lucky and appreciative of JC Decaux’s continuing support through our Charity partnership with them again in 2025. This advertising campaign, which is estimated to be worth over €500,000 in a year, is something we could never afford to pay for.

We will have a specific advertising campaign as part of Fairbruary to help raise the profile, and this is in addition to our annual Fairtrade campaign. See an example of how the Fairbruary campaign looked in different countries in 2024 below. The move to the online Fairbruary campaign is intended to encourage more engagement around Fairtrade products and with supporter companies. We are beginning to see the seeds of this happening with companies like Bewley’s, Aldi, Lidl, and Insomnia and we are aware of new opportunities waiting for us in 2025. We need to generate more growth in our Fairtrade business to push on with the real positive changes Fairtrade makes in the world.

Thanks for your ongoing support!
