Classroom resources
There are a selection of materials to help teachers deliver Fairtrade issues through the curriculum

For Secondary Schools

  • Fair Comment is our educational DVD, to order a copy see the section on promotional materials...it is also online on the Films section of our website.
  • Fairtrade C.S.P.E. pack, this is to be used in conjunction with the Fair Comment DVD.

For Primary Schools

  • The Fairtrade section of the Alive-O 8 Programme is for Catholic Primary Schools (see page 81 & 82 of pupil's book and chapter 9 of DVD/Video).
  • The Fairtrade section of the Follow Me Series is for Church of Ireland, the Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church Primary Schools in Ireland (see Book for Fifth/Sixth Class called 'Working Out', Term 1, Lesson 4 on Harvest).

There are lots of fun ways you can promote Fairtrade. The Event Action Guide has lots of tips and advice on hosting various Fairtrade events.

  • The EPA's Environmental Care Pack for primary schools has a Fairtrade section called voting with your Feet.
  • Oxfam Ireland have a useful section on their website about Fairtrade.
  • Irish Aid's website also has a lot of information on Fairtrade.
  • Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO) produced in collaboration with Irish Aid and primary school resource pack called School Works!
  • Visit the Dubble Chocolate website and follow the cocoa trail from bean to bar.
  • Papappa website has resources to teach Fairtrade, this is for UK teachers, but they could be adapted for Ireland.
